Veda - Movie Review

Movie : Veda

Director : Nityakumar

Cast : Arun Vijay , Jerovardhan, Sheela

What in the name of entertainment has Arun Vijay and his director Nityakumar dished out? Veda is an old fashioned corny tale full of mush and melodrama one associates with a 60’s film and is predictable and boring.

A rich widow (Seetha) has two loving sons Vijay (Arun Vijay) a devoted businessman whose world revolves around his younger brother Vadhan ( Jerovardhan), studying in a college. Vijay would do anything for his brother, including making him college union chairman after beating to pulp local don Sathya (Sathyaprakash) who wanted the post for his younger brother! Vijay falls in love with Veda (Sheela) and after a few songs and a ‘mushroom omelet’, they make love in rain!

However Vadhan falls in love with the same girl at first look without realizing she is Anna’s girl and threatens to commit suicide! Conveniently Vadhan has some mysterious heart ailment and Anna and Amma take pity on Thambi and Vijay makes supreme sacrifice of giving his girl in marriage to his younger girl!

The marriage takes place but on her first night Veda spills out the beans to her ex-lover that on the day “they had mushroom omelet and made love”, she got pregnant! The younger brother overhears this and walks out of the house, with the elder brother running after to console him. Meanwhile Sathya seeking revenge kidnaps Vijay who is chained, tortured and drugged! Want to hear more about this insufferable movie of the millennium?
